The car rental market size was valued at $82.1 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.6% during 2023-2026.

Edelweiss General Insurance (EGI) of India has partnered with Okinawa Autotech, a local manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, to provide e-bike insurance.

In accordance with the terms of the agreement, EGI will provide customers with digitally driven solutions by making use of Okinawa's more than 350 dealerships scattered across India.

Okinawa Autotech MD and organizer Jeetender Sharma said: " Our commitment to providing ongoing support to our customers is strengthened by this partnership.
"Edelweiss will offer a digitally enabled platform and an ecosystem that offers need-based and data-driven solutions to our customers," the statement reads.

EGI hopes to provide Okinawan customers with individualized solutions through the partnership.

Customers can choose from a variety of add-ons based on their specific coverage requirements.

The partnership is in line with the insurer's plan to help India adopt electric two-wheelers and invest in new technologies.

With a market share of more than 40 percent, Okinawa is India's largest manufacturer of electric two-wheelers.
The electric vehicle policy covers the entire vehicle, including the battery, and covers more than 30% of the cost of the vehicle.

According to Shanai Ghosh, Edelweiss General Insurance's ED and CEO, the partnership aims to support consumers' growing environmental awareness and interest in electric vehicles.

Ghosh mentioned: Our strategic focus on the country's electric vehicle market is reflected in this partnership.

"We accept the ever-evolving change to electric vehicles is indispensable to the India's excursion towards eco-accommodating transportation and as another advanced guarantor, we are eager to be essential for this arising innovation driven versatility environment."

In order to power its UK fleet, insurtech Trov recently collaborated with electric car rental service UFODRIVE.

With the help of a brand-new electric protection module, Mercedes-Benz Bank and its insurance partner HDI collaborated in May to provide insurance coverage for hybrid and electric vehicles.
