Cardiac electrophysiologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, also known as arrhythmias. These specialists have expertise in the electrical system of the heart and use specialized equipment to study and treat abnormal heart rhythms.

Cardiac electrophysiologists may perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiograms, and electrophysiological studies (EPS). They may also implant and manage pacemakers and defibrillators, perform ablation procedures to treat certain arrhythmias, and provide medical management for patients with heart rhythm disorders.
