What are the Methods to Fix QuickBooks Install Error 1904?

To fix QuickBooks Install Error 1904, you can try the following solutions:

Method 1: Activate the hidden admin account on a Windows computer

  • Open the Command Prompt by clicking the Start button and typing in "CMD" in the Search Programs and Files box.
  • Then, right-click on the CMD file at the top of the list and select "Run as Administrator".
  • Within the Command Prompt, type in the command "net user administrator /active:yes" and press the Enter key to activate the hidden administrator account.

  • If an error message appears, try typing in the command "net user administrator /active" instead.
  • It's important to note that activating the hidden admin account will turn off User Account Control (UAC) on Windows, which removes operating system restrictions from applications like QuickBooks. However, the built-in admin account should only be used for troubleshooting issues rather than regular use.

Method 2: Disable the built-in admin account on Windows

  • Click the Start button on your desktop.
  • Type "CMD" in the Search Programs and Files search box and select the CMD file from the list.
  • Right-click on the CMD file and choose "Run as Administrator" to open the Command Prompt with elevated privileges.
  • Within the Command Prompt, type "net user administrator /active:no" and hit the Enter key to disable the built-in administrator account.
  • This command will remove the admin account's active status and prevent it from being accessed without first reactivating it.
