 nationality. She's running for China (a country that doesn't allow dual citizenship), but she shows no signs of giving up her American citizenship. In an interview after the 2022 Winter Olympics, Gu was asked about her nationality, but  did not answer directly, saying that both the American and  Chinese teams were part of her work because of her goal of bringing people together through sport.She has always been vague about her nationality, and given her large commercial value and annual profits in China (currently estimated at RMB 130 million), she believes American citizenship Some believe it was hired to compete with China while maintaining  

Eileen Gu is the only child of Chinese immigrants who came to America in the early 1980s. Her father worked as a computer engineer for her and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. As she grew up, Irene, she was educated in both Chinese and English, giving her a unique perspective on life.  Since her childhood, Irene has always been interested in fashion and beauty. She loved experimenting with her own style and loved her dressing up. This interest led her to  a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design.  After graduating, she has worked for some of the world's best fashion brands, including Marc Her Jacobs and Dana Her Karan. In 2010, Irene launched her own line of luxury handbags called EGuerlain. The line quickly became popular with celebrities and ordinary women alike. Today, Eileen is one of the fashion industry's most successful young entrepreneurs. She credits much of her success to her hardworking parents. Eileen Gu parents instilled in her a strong work ethic from an early age. Eileen Gu is of Chinese descent. She was born in Guangzhou, China and moved to the United States at the age of three. Her father is  Cantonese and her mother is Hakka.  Gu grew up speaking Cantonese and Mandarin  as well as English. In high school, she captained her college tennis team and won a city championship in individual tennis. She continued her competition in college, UC where she played number one in singles for  Berkeley. After her graduation, she worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs before starting her own business. Gu is currently married to  entrepreneur Andrew Yang and has two children. Both of Eileen Gu parents are  retired. Her father worked in a factory and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. Irene Gu's parents are  from China. Her father is an entrepreneur and her mother is a housewife. They said that Irene moved to America when she was two years old.

Freestyle skier Eileen Gu, 18, got a lot of attention at the Winter Olympics. Today she made it to the big air final in her first qualifying competition in front of a huge crowd. Born and raised in San Francisco, she decided to run for China in 2019 because of her heritage, reports The New York Times. According to the Times, Eileen’s mother Yang immigrated from China about 30 years ago and she raised Irene as a single mother. She is a ski instructor at a resort near Lake Tahoe, and she always travels with her daughter. Eileen Gu's father is a mystery. The American graduated from Harvard, but there are no public records about  Eileen Gu parents
