Air Force Groups X and Y exam consist mainly of three stages out of which the first two stages are very difficult and need proper planning and preparation. Now here we will discuss the complete strategy to clear Air Force Group “X” and “Y” Exam.
Let’s now discuss the preparation of each subject:
English:
English is included in both Groups “X” and “Y”. The question generally comes from topics like Comprehension, Synonym/Antonym, Error detection, Jumbled Sentence, Active/Passive Voice, and Tense.
Strategy:
English subject plays a vital role in every competitive exam, but seeing the time constraint we have to focus on the short time strategy.
Make a habit of reading English newspaper every day, write difficult words and learn them regularly, which will help you to improve your vocabulary. This practice will help you in a one-word situation, Synonyms, and Antonyms.
Attempting mock test papers and quizzes of past exams would also assist you in scoring good marks.
Select books of good authors for the preparation, rather than selecting books seeing the name of the exam on cover pages.
Physics:
The Physics subject is only applicable to the candidates who are appearing for Air Force Group “X” Exam. Syllabus covers all the topic of class 11th and 12th. Questions will be of both types- Theoretical and Numerical. One should have a better understanding of concepts for application knowledge.
Strategy:
Major focus while preparing for the Physics section should be on a topic like Thermodynamics, SHM, Semiconductors, Electricity, and Electrostatics which are very important. Questions from these topics are asked consistently and these are also easy to cover.
The best books to cover these topics are 11th and 12th NCERT books.
Maths:
The Maths subject is also applicable for the candidates who are appearing in Air Force Group “X” exam. Maths plays a very important role in the selection of a candidate, as this is the scoring subject in exams. Therefore we should have some solid plan to prepare for this subject.
Strategy:
While preparing for Maths subject one should have a special focus on topics like Coordinate Geometry, Complex Numbers, Trigonometry, Differentiation, Integration, Matrices and Determinants, Probability, Permutation, and combination.
Speed and accuracy play a very important role while solving this subject. The practice is very important in Maths; one should have to practice questions of every level. The level of question in this subject is moderate. Make sure to solve all the examples of a topic as it will provide you ample practice for each variation of question.
The books you can use to practice for Maths is R S Aggarwal. Time constraint is aging the major factor for Maths Section, so it is very important to be very careful while attempting the questions. Candidates should have to attempt questions where you are pretty sure to avoid the impact of negative marking.
Reasoning and General Awareness:
Reasoning and General Awareness is applicable for candidates who are appearing in Air Force Group “Y” Exam only.
Strategy for General Awareness
This section has questions of General Awareness. For current affairs, you can use a monthly magazine and you can update it through newspapers as well.
The suitable book for the preparation can be Lucent. It covers almost everything as per the level of questions and it is a very concise and reliable book.
Strategy for Reasoning
For this section, you can practice from the book by Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal. The level of this book is very good and has ample questions to practice under each topic.
Note: Negative Marking plays a very important role in the elimination criteria while solving the questions. In the past exams, we have observed that few students who were very good at academics lose the exam by attempting more doubtful questions.
Therefore, you need not be aggressive while solving the paper, have patient and answer the questions where you are 100% sure. Attempting a wrong answer will take you back from the merit list.
Physical Fitness Test:
We can’t ignore this test while we are preparing for Air Force Group “X” and “Y” Exams. After qualifying, the written exam one has to pass the Physical Efficiency Test also. In this test, one has to run 1.6 Km in 6.5 minutes, which is not an easy task for candidates.
The passing ratio in the running test is very low. Many candidates are disqualified in the running test as they are not able to complete the race in given time limits. Therefore one should start his practice from today if he sure to clear his written test.
To develop your stamina, you should give at least 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening for exercise. If you are not used to running then it may take some time to develop your stamina. Consistency is the only key to complete it within the time limit of 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
Besides running of 1.6 Km, candidates have to do 10 Push-ups, 20 Sit-ups, 20 Squats. The important thing which you have to keep in mind while performing these activities is the proper posture. Candidates should perform Sit-ups, Push-ups, and Sit-ups in the proper postures only.
